‘Eternals’ Features A Surprising ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ Easter Egg

A surprising Easter Egg from Marvel Studios’ Eternals ties into The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Marvel Studios is known for putting Easter Eggs in their films, usually as tie-ins to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. The way in which each film and series ties into one another is one of its strongest appeals, and even with a film as unique as Eternals, it is still filled with Easter Eggs and references to the rest of the MCU. In fact, one Easter Egg ties into one of the original Disney Plus series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Now that Eternals is available to stream on Disney Plus, fans are able to spot each Easter Egg frame-by-frame to see potential tie-ins and hints to other stories/characters in the MCU. In this case, a fan spotted a surprising Easter Egg referencing the series, we see a glimpse of the Global Repatriation Council (GRC) in the opening scene from Eternals at Piccadilly Circus in London.

We were first introduced to the GRC in the aforementioned series, particularly as an organization that provided aid to people effected negatively by the blip. It is also the organization that the series’ antagonist Erin Kellyman (Karli Morgenthau) and the Flag Smashers took issue with. To see it in Eternals as an Easter Egg is yet another example of the interconnected nature of the MCU expanding.

Here is the synopsis for Eternals:

The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.

Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Angelina Jolie as Thena and Harry Styles as Starfox.

Eternals and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are both available to stream on Disney Plus while the former will be available on home media formats on February 15.
