A brand new theory indicates that Robert Pattinson’s bat symbol from The Batman is actually made from the gun that killed his parents.
It would be an understatement to say that Robert Pattinson’s first look as The Batman didn’t break the internet Thursday evening. Fans immediately began dissecting the camera test footage that Matt Reeves debuted which simply showed Robert Pattinson’s Batman rocking the brand new suit. The Batman suit has been received well on social media for its unique mechanical design, as well as its cowl that is reminiscent of Zorro. Of course, theories began to immediately present themselves with regards to the meaning behind The Batman symbol on Robert Pattinson’s chest, which is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before on the big screen.
Journalist Markeia McCarty took to Twitter to present her own theory as to what the Batman symbol could mean for Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. In her tweets, she discussed how the Batman symbol looks as if it was made from the gun that Joe Chill used to murder his parents. Of course, Bruce Wayne took on the mantle of The Batman after he continued to witness the injustices that were rampant on the streets of Gotham.

For those asking: looks like a gun divided & reshaped into the symbol, Detective Comics #1000 (Manufacture For Sale) had a similar plot, & what other gun (pre-Batman Beyond) would have that much meaning to Bats?
Bottom line, strong speculation & I’m eager to see if it pans out pic.twitter.com/71ALuxeI0g

It certainly is an interesting theory and would easily separate Robert Pattinson’s incarnation of the character from the rest that have dominated the silver screen. If this theory does end up to be true, we can expect a far more compassionate but equally harsh Batman that doesn’t take the anguish of Gotham lightly. This is just our first look at Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, but we’ll keep this theory in mind as we follow the film’s production.
What are your thoughts on this theory for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman? Do you think the new Batman symbol looks like the gun that killed Bruce Wayne’s parents? Comment below and let us know!
Full plot details on The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy from Warner Bros. with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
