A new design pictures The Boys actor Antony Starr leaving Homelander behind to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He might be currently starring in the wildly successful superhero show The Boys, but a new image sees Homelander actor Antony Starr step into an MCU-inspired Wolverine costume to replace Hugh Jackman on the big screen. We already know Starr can tackle a character with some complicated issues while adding depth to the role with Homlander – and he’s even said that he’d love to pick up the mantle.
The new fan art comes from ‘spdrmnkyxxiii’ on Instagram and shows off The Boys star wearing a bulky, armored version of the black and yellow Wolverine costume. It looks similar to the design worn by the X-Men in Grant Morrison’s run of the Mutant team – and would translate perfectly onto the big screen. Unfortunately, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige previously debunked any idea that casting for Wolverine has begun so we might be waiting a little longer for Logan to arrive in the MCU. Take a look at Antony Starr replacing Hugh Jackman below.
What do you make of the fan art? Would you like to see Antony Starr pick up the Wolverine mantle in the MCU? What do you think he’d do differently to Hugh Jackman? Sound-off in the comments below!
Here is the official synopsis for Hugh Jackman’s last Wolverine film, Logan:
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
Directed by James Mangold, Logan stars Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Eriq LaSalle, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Boyd Holbrook.
Logan is now available on Digital HD, Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding Wolverine’s future in the MCU, The Boys, and Antony Starr, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
