‘WandaVision’ EP Opens Up About Evan Peters’ Return As Quicksilver

WandaVision executive producer Jac Schaeffer has now dished on Evan Peters’ surprise appearance as Quicksilver in the latest episode.

The most recent episode of WandaVision might’ve launched the multiverse inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to Evan Peters’ appearance. Of course, Aaron Taylor Johnson played Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Peters played a different version of the character in the X-Men films. Now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox and the X-Men rights, Marvel Studios is free to use any version they desire, but no one expected something like this to happen so soon.

Executive producer Jac Shaeffer has now opened up about Evan Peters’ shocking appearance with Marvel.com and shared how it all came to be during production:

“We loved the idea of [bringing him back]. And then we were like, how in the world are we going to make this make logical sense? Like, how do we justify this? Because that’s the thing, you can hatch a million great ideas, but to make them land, to make them be grounded, to make them feel organic to the larger story. This show is such a mind scramble, and because it’s working on so many levels, and there’s so many notions of what’s real and what’s not, and performance, and casting, and audience, and fandom, and all of that, we just thought it would be the biggest thrill to bring Evan over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We thought like, how do we give him this entrance, and then enjoy that, and then make it crazy? And we had long had the idea of the trope of the brother, or the relative, or whoever comes to town and like, stirs things up with the family — that sitcom trope.”

Jac Shaeffer later discussed the reaction by both Evan Peters and Kevin Feige:

“We were rooting for it for so long, and didn’t know if it would be possible. It was complicated to make happen. Evan was always up for it — like, always, always, always. He is a comic book fan, and a Marvel fan. He is always up for the absolute weirdest option. And he’s a pleasure — truly a pleasure to work with. Everybody was really excited. I think Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] wanted to make sure that there was a reason for it, that it made sense. And I hope that’s what we did.”

Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Matt Shakman directed the series with Jac Schaeffer as the lead scribe; WandaVision will star Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, and Kathryn Hahn in an undisclosed role. The President of Marvel Studios has said that the series leads into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

WandaVision premieres on Disney Plus every Friday. Keep following along to stay up to date on all of the latest news surrounding Evan Peters’ Quicksilver, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
