Mark Hamill and Sarah Michelle Gellar Headline Masters of the Universe Revival
Last year, Kevin Smith announced that he is producing a revival of the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series for Netflix. According to Smith, Masters of the Universe: Revelation will put the spotlight on Teela after He-Man’s Sword of Power goes missing in the final battle against Skeletor. Via Newsarama, Smith has announced the voice cast for the new series. Mark Hamill will headline the series as Skeletor, while Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Sarah Michelle Gellar will voice Teela.
Chris Wood (Supergirl) will also star in the series as He-Man/Prince Adam, alongside Game of Thrones‘ Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn. Another Game of Thrones veteran, Liam Cunningham, will portray Man-At-Arms, Adam’s mentor and Teela’s father. Griffin Newman will play Orko, with Stephen Root as Cringer, Diedrich Bader as King Randor, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, and Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress.
Bader will also perform as Trap-Jaw alongside Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man, and Tony Todd as Scare Glow. Smith’s frequent collaborator, Jason Mewes, will voice Stinkor; while Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith plays Ileena. Additionally, the original Skeletor, Alan Oppenheimer, will play Moss Man in this series. Tiffany Smith (no relation to Kevin Smith) will voice Andra, while Cree Summer portrays Priestess, and Justin Long plays Roboto.
It’s also worth noting that Phil LaMarr will step into the series as He-Ro. That character was originally envisioned as the son of Adam and Teela for an unproduced animated spinoff.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation is currently in production. Additionally, Netflix is producing a separate CGI animated He-Man series. Netflix also remains heavily rumored to be the home of the live-action Masters of the Universe reboot movie.
