Following the attack at the museum, Steven Grant wakes up back at home with no evidence that anything ever happened. However, the security footage at the museum doesn’t show the jackal at all. It just looks like Steven trashed the museum. He is subsequently fired and referred to seek mental help. Regardless, Steven resolves to prove he isn’t crazy by tracking down the storage unit that matches the key he found in his apartment. Steven soon succeeds, and learns that his other self is Marc Spector, and he has a cache of illegal weapons, cash, and the scarab he stole from Arthur Harrow.
Marc appears to Steven in his reflection and explains that they are servants of Khonshu, but Steven rejects them both. As Steven tries to escape, he stumbles upon Layla, the woman he spoke to on the phone in episode 1. Layla doesn’t believe that Steven is anything other than a front by Marc. However, Steven slowly convinces her that he is a different person when he hands her the scarab. Shortly thereafter, Steven is arrested in his home while Layla slips away.
Steven is brought before Harrow, who explains that he was once Khonshu’s champion before he aligned with the Egyptian goddess, Ammit. Harrow also says that he needs the scarab to restore Ammit to her full power. But Steven is alarmed by Ammit’s brand of justice and he refuses to give up the fact that Layla has the scarab. Thankfully, Layla appears and saves Steven before Harrow summons another jackal from the underworld. As they try to flee, Steven is sent plummeting off of the building before he summons the suit and becomes Mr. Knight.
While the Mr. Knight suit allows Steven to fight back against the jackal, he is still outmatched. So Steven allows Marc to retake control of their body and he becomes Moon Knight. He manages to defeat the jackal, but the scarab is left behind. Layla witnesses Harrow recover the scarab before she escapes. Meanwhile, Marc refuses to relinquish control to Steven. He also reveals that if they don’t serve Khonshu then the god will take Layla as his next champion. Khonshu angrily berates Marc for letting Steven interfere. Marc promises Khonshu that they can still beat Harrow to Ammit’s tomb. Khonshu causes Marc to pass out, and when he awakes, he discovers that he is now in Egypt.
