Netflix’s Raising Dion Cancelled After Two Seasons

Netflix’s Raising Dion Cancelled After Two Seasons

We can officially add one more series to Netflix’s two-season cancellation club. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service has axed Raising Dion and won’t be moving forward with another season of the hit superhero series.

Raising Dion originally premiered on Netflix in 2019 and starred Alisha Wainwright as Nicole Warren, a single mother whose son, Dion (Ja’Siah Young), begins to manifest a variety of superhuman abilities. The series was based on the 2015 comic book by Dennis Liu, who previously adapted the story into a short film. Additionally, the supporting cast included Jazmyn Simon, Sammi Haney, Jason Ritter, Griffin Robert Faulkner, and Ali Ahn. Michael B. Jordan was an executive producer on the series and also made several recurring appearances as Dion’s late father, Mark.

In response to the cancellation, several cast members shared messages on Instagram thanking fans for their support over the show’s two-year run. You can check out what Waiwright and Young had to say below.

All eight episodes of Raising Dion’s second season hit Netflix back in February and quickly became one of the most-watched shows on the platform. According to Nielsen data, the series amassed 2.74 billion minutes of viewing time in the month following its premiere. The season 2 finale hinted at big things to come for Dion in the future. Unfortunately, fans will never learn what the series’ creators had in mind.
