Prior to The Suicide Squad‘s release, director James Gunn claimed that HBO Max’s Peacemaker original series was a prequel. However, it turns out that John Cena’s antihero survived the events of the film. And the show will depict Peacemaker’s further adventures along with his very reluctant support staff.
HBO Max Europe has debuted the first preview clip from Peacemaker, which reintroduces two familiar faces. Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland are reprising their roles as Belle Reve warden John Economos and NSA Agent Emilia Harcourt, respectively. John and Emilia already hate Peacemaker, which is why they don’t hold back when he explains who “Eagly” is.
He’s got the looks, the car, and the best sidekick ever — all in the name of peace.

Additionally, the clip introduces Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, as well as Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn. For reasons that escape us, Peacemaker’s colleagues actually went out to dinner with him. However, they didn’t expect him to come in full costume. Nor did they expect his eagle “sidekick” to be locked in the backseat of his car.
Peacemaker will hit HBO Max in January 2022.
